Bellevue Enatai neighborhood home: perfectly placed
A naturally perfect Bellevue Enatai neighborhood home
Here’s how we found the location for the perfect Bellevue Enatai neighborhood home. The real estate adage location, location, location, tells only half the story. The other half is to design and build the home that ideally suits the location. We begin to scout the location that inspires us to build the perfect home for it. We found it in the Enatai neighborhood.
By nature, an introvert
If it were a person, The Nest would be called an introvert. While we opened the landscape to the west to let in more light, we simultaneously enhanced the home’s privacy. We did so with the home’s placement, the driveway’s location, and new landscaping. The quietude of this new Bellevue Enatai neighborhood home betrays its proximity to downtown and the freeway.
About the Bellevue Enatai Neighborhood
The Enatai neighborhood of Bellevue was originally settled by pioneers in the late 1800s. The name “Enatai” is derived from a Native American term meaning “across the water” perhaps a reference to its location across the water from Seattle.
After World War II, the area transformed from a farming community into a suburb with residential development and an elementary school built in 1953.
In 2018, Enatai celebrated its 65th anniversary. While Enatai today is one of the most affluent neighborhoods of the Seattle Eastside, the treelined streets, generous lot sizes, community parks, and proximity to Lake Washington retain the neighborhood’s rural character.
The last home we built was by location an extravert
In contrast, most people would have taken a pass when confronted with the location of our last Bellevue project.
What became known as “The Home on the Hill” was hidden from view and accessible only across the driveway of another home. We studied the situation and boldly decided: let’s move the home to a new address!
Taking to the air, we noticed that Bellevue’s 100th Ave SE was a dead-end street. We realized that the dead end could continue as the driveway of a new home. The solution was as simple as it was daring. We moved the utilities.
While the move took time and money, it was well worth it for the neighbor who no longer had to share his driveway and for the buyer who purchased the home three days after it was listed. Where there was only outside parking, the three-car garage was on the entry level of a three-story home with glorious views. The home itself is no longer hidden but can’t be missed. That’s quite a contrast to the Bellevue Enatai neighborhood home.
